No5: How To Redo Your Room Without Buying Much

If you want to give your room a quick redo, but you don’t want to go out and buy much, follow these tips to make it seem like you redid your room , when you really just painted a few things!

  • Move around furniture. Take grid paper a draw down every single possible layout for your room. Pick your favorite and use it!
  • If you want a change of colors in your room, first take the biggest obstacles and find a way around them. For example if your theme is purple, and you have a bright purple comforter that is an obstacle. A solution to that is to either buy a reversible comforter with white on the other side, a white comforter, or a throw blanket of the color you want to incorporate. This is buying a lot but if you got a white comforter you could use it for a long time. So, next time you buy a new comforter, consider a white one. Also, white or neutral  colored walls will give you flexibility to change up your room.
  • The next tip is to paint. Pick up some paint you the color you want your room to be. Walmart has my favorite brand of paint for this, apple barrel, for around .50 cents a bottle. I will link it below. Use your paint to paint frames, and other paintable items that are ruining your theme. and use it throughout your diy’s! (More about Diy’s later :o)
  • Now, Decor and accents are super important! You can make new art that perfectly matches your theme, and describes you! You can also get super cute decor at Home Goods and Marshalls. Let’s start with our Diy’s!

Diy #1- Cute Canvas Art

  • You can get super cheap canvases at Walmart. (Again) They will be linked below as well!
  • This diy is a great way to display the colors in your theme. I recommend choosing 2 colors in your theme. For this diy , you need 2 colors. So, take a canvas and one of your paints. (That we talked about before) Next, take any white, or gray paint. (Gray if you want softer tones) Take a paintbrush. (The thick-wall painting kind. See pics below) Dip the brush in paint, and draw a line on the canvas (Vertically looks best) starting from the top and going to the bottom. Let the brush naturally run out of paint. This is what gives the piece it’s charm. Leave a bit of space and make another line, but this time add your white or gray to the paint to make it a bit lighter. Continue this until there is no more space on the canvas for another line. Repeat this with your other paint on another canvas and repeat steps. Done!

Diy #2- More Cute Canvas Art

  • For this canvas art, we will be using a scraping technique. Squeeze blobs of paint on one six of the canvas (it doesn’t matter which one) Take a piece of cardboard and place it behind the paint globs. Drag the cardboard to the other side of the canvas to make a cool affect.

Diy #3- Mason Jars

  • This is super simple. Take paint matching your theme and some mason jars. Paint the inside of the mason jar and your done! You can also spray paint. Use these mason jars for whatever you want! You can grab some fake flowers and make an arrangement or put your pens in it!
